Filson: Mist Eliminator Manufacturing Expert Serving the World
Filson mist eliminator is generally made of Stainless Steel, Titanium, Hastelloy, Inconel 625, Monel 400, PP(polypropylene), PE(polyethylene), PVC(polyvinyl chloride), FRP(fiberglass reinforced plastic) materials with high corrosion and abrasive resistance. Filson engineers are ready to help you with your most appropriate mist eliminator selection.
Filson mist eliminator particularly acts on the liquid droplets and entrained particles in size of 0.1 to over 50 microns. There are four optional types of mist eliminators from Filson for your specific removal entrainment sizes, including mesh, vane, cyclone, and fiber bed types.
If there is only liquid entrainment or mist which less than 10 microns in the gas, Filson mesh demister pads are your perfect choice; but if also solid particles and 8-50 micron entrainment in the gas, please pick Filson vane type or cyclone mist eliminator. Plus, the Filson fiber bed mist eliminator can handle even 0.1-micron droplets.
Mist Eliminator Type Removed Droplet Size(μm)
- Mesh Pad 3-10
- Vane type 8-50
- Cyclone type 7-20
- Fiber Bed Candle Filter 0.1-5
Filson mist eliminator can be an essential internal of desulphurization towers, absorption towers, distillation towers, scrubbing towers to minimize liquid entrainment. Commonly employed at the top of a packed column or in conjunction with a collecting tray between two packed beds.
Or Filson mist eliminator can be installed in some systems to converge mist into larger droplets and discharge. It plays an important role in a variety of machine coolant mist, chromic acid mist, sulfuric acid mist, and oil mist removal, to ensure that air emissions achieve environmentally acceptable levels.
For mesh pad and vane type mist eliminator, Filson designs both integrated and segmented two styles to meet different application sizes. Among, integrated style Filson mist eliminator is more suitable for relatively smaller towers, while segmented style is easier to transport and install for larger industrial systems.
By the way, do not worry about installation problems. There is an English manual coming with your mist eliminator to guide you, and our engineers will also assist you throughout the installing process.
Filson mist eliminator is provided the vertical and horizontal configurations to fit the different directions of gas flow. Vertical type allows a higher flow rate and is easy to avoid secondary entrainment, but requires a larger footprint. While horizontal type requires a smaller footprint and is easy to install, however available at a lower flow rate and is prone to secondary entrainment.
In addition, after a period of use, you are recommended to clean your Filson mist eliminator to reduce scaling and restore the optimum filtration efficiency. Design a backwashing unit in your system for regular cleaning, or dismantle it and spray with clean water, or soak it in the cleaning solution.
Not only standard mist eliminator supply, but Filson’s bespoke mist eliminators can also satisfy you with desired size, material, and shape. Just send us your specific application, required efficiency, droplet size, face velocity, or the drawing of the existing demister.
Besides, if you are searching for a quality mist eliminator with an economical mist eliminator price for your existing system, choose Filson. We design and manufacture mist eliminator replacements for almost all popular brands on the market, such as Emacs mist eliminator, Munter’s mist eliminator, Koch mist eliminator, Krime mist eliminator.
Each mist eliminator manufactured by Filson is strictly performance tested before leaving the factory and will be wrapped in plastic film and placed in a customized wooden case. Or a pallet inside to reduce pressure during loading.
If there is any doubt of mist eliminator material, mist eliminator pressure drop, mist eliminator design calculation, please feel free to contact Filson. Our mist eliminator specialists are 24/7 here to help you solve problems.

What is Mist Eliminator
Mist eliminator is a liquid-gas separator and typically divided into mesh pad type, vane type, cyclone type, and fiber bed type. Different mist eliminator types are suited for different entrained mist sizes.
They can effectively remove liquid droplets and solid particles from gases or vapor steam. Commonly used as a tower internal in various scrubbing towers, desulphurization towers, absorption towers, distillation towers, or other liquid-gas separation devices.
Mist Eliminator Function
- Reduce loss of valuable chemicals like glycol, amine, or solvent in absorption towers
- The update throughput capacity of existing systems without costly replacement
- Protect downstream equipment like a turbine, blower, and compressor blades
- Improve purity of products by preventing side draws contamination in distillation columns
- Minimize air pollution by diminishing mist emissions to an environmentally acceptable level
Mist Eliminator Working Principle
The central principles of mist eliminator are collision, adherence, coalescence, drainage. When the gas containing mist flows through the mist eliminator at a specific speed, the mist in the gas collies with wires(or blades) and coalesce into larger droplets then dropdown. Thus the liquid and gas will be separated.
Multi-layer mesh wires or multi-fold plates constructions increase the chances of capturing mist, and unremoved mist can be collected at the next turning point. Mist removal efficiency increases with increasing flow rate, the higher flow rate, the greater inertia of mist, the more favorable to separate liquid and gas.
However, the increased flow rate of gases will cause an increase in system resistance while consuming more energy. Once the flow rate increase exceeds a specific limit, secondary entrainment is inevitable, thus reducing the mist removal efficiency.
